Porting to new micro - details?

Jun 7, 2012 at 5:10 PM

Where can I find detailed information about creating a porting template for a new micro.

Actually, it isn't so new, it's for the iMX25 which there was already a port for (Topaz i.MX25).

We already have a product designed around this chip and I'm looking to port NETMF to it for a proof of concept project.

If anyone can point me in the direction of detailed porting docs I'd be very greatful.

Thanks in advance.

Our porting ebook should be a good start http://www.tinyclr.com/support#resources

Enjoy!

Hi Gus.

Thanks for the reply, but I already downloaded and read the ebook.

What I'm looking for is the... down in the dirt... description of creating the HAL/PAL portions for the port.

Is there any such document or template that exists?

I already have a product based on the iMX25 (currently running ThreadX/FileX/NetX) so I am very familiar with the hardware.

What I'm looking for is a guide to show me the... how.. of creating the abstraction layers for NETMF to use the board and it's various IO.

Or, is it that I should just start off with the iMXS solution and modify it to meet the boards requirments?

Again, thanks.

Hi,

The NETMF Codeplex project has the porting kit & documentation which go into a fair amount of detail (http://netmf.codeplex.com).  Also, the NETMF forums are a great resource if you have questions that aren't answered in the porting kit:  http://netmf.com/forum.

Hope that helps!
